Bride-brain is a real thing, you forget details of your day, lost in all the emotions and planning of the big day but the father of the bride’s brain? That’s a new one.
Marty Whelan might just be the first known case after his daughter Jessica said ‘I do’ back in November as the presenter has been struggling to remember what he said in his speech that day!
Speaking to RSVP Live he described the day as ‘nerve-wracking’ but ‘exciting and incredibly emotional’ so much so that his big emotions seemed to have wiped his memory of his father of the bride speech.
‘Apparently, it went well, but I don’t remember it. I have no memory of it,’ Marty said, ‘It was a whirlwind but I also wanted it to be right. I wanted to be respectful and I wanted to give people a bit of a laugh.
‘You also want to be very careful of the day because you are not going to get a second bite of the cherry. It was very important to get it right.’
So did he get it right? Well, apparently so as he added: ‘My speech worked, I think. All you can do is talk about the love you have for a very special person.’
The beloved TV presenter’s daughter Jessica, who works as a teacher, wed her long-time partner Conor in a beautiful November winter ceremony.
The bride looked breathtaking in a vintage-inspired column dress made from a beautiful floral lace pattern which featured a plunging v-neckline and a cut-out waistband that emphasised her curves.
She played up the vintage feel of the dress with a floor-sweeping veil and wore her chestnut-colored locks in loose, natural curls while her now husband Conor looked dapper in a three-piece navy tux.
Marty seemed to have had another job other than forgetting his speech as he personally chauffeured his little girl to the service in a bright yellow vintage convertible car.
