Dynasty star Stephanie Beacham was left shaken after being threatened by a hammer-wielding man who broke into her €850,000 home and shut her in a room.
The actress, who played Sable Colby in the final season of the hit series, was locked in a room at her London home after David Wilson forced his way inside the house.
Details about the break-in have been released after Wilson, 56, admitted aggravated burglary in court this week. The court heard how Stephanie, 75, disturbed him as he was rifling through her property in Bayswater at around 2pm on September 25, 2022.
Wilson, who was holding a hammer, threatened her and demanding money and jewellery. It’s understood that he then told Stephanie to stay in another room and shut the door while he carried on raiding her home.
Stephanie was in the room for 20 minutes before Wilson left with several of her belongings including her mobile phone, purse, keys and jewellery.
The actress, who most recently played Ken Barlow’s love interest in Coronation Street, was not physically harmed during the scary incident but was understandably shaken by what had happened.
On Wednesday, Wilson admitted aggravated burglary at Southwark Crown Court in London, but Claire Mawer, defending, said that the burglary was not planned, suggesting that he didn’t realise the actress lived in the home.
Ms Mawer added that Wilson, who had recently been released from prison when the raid on Stephanie’s home happened, has ‘experienced long-term difficulties with drug addiction.’ Wilson will be sentenced next month.
A spokesman for Ms Beacham declined to comment yesterday when approached by the Daily Mail.
The actress rose to fame with her role in Dynasty in the 1980s where she appeared in more than 20 episodes. She then starred in spin-off show The Colbys. Stephanie went on to appear in Tenko, Bad Girls and Casualty.
