Lisa McHugh has friends in high places! After making the cut for Garth Brook’s highlight reel from his Irish tour last summer the Scottish singer was keen to return the favour.
When country music legend Garth turned 61, Lisa was quick to share her birthday congratulations and confessed that she is still bowled over at being included in his clip.
‘Happy 61st birthday @garthbrooks Still can’t believe this happened,’ she told her followers as she shared a throwback snap of Garth’s reel.
The clip shows Lisa singing along with her young son Milo and was completely unexpected.
She explained at the time: ‘Woke up this morning to see my little man and I featured last night in @garthbrooks live from Studio G when talking through highlights of his 5 nights in Dublin!’.
The star had posted a video of her playing the guitar and singing Garth Brook’s hit ‘The River’ in a very cute snippet with Milo.
Garth re-shared the video in his review of his Irish trip and Lisa couldn’t hide her happiness, telling EVOKE that ‘it was an honour’.
The mum of one, who got married last year, added that she was ‘delighted’ to have been featured and we can only imagine as a country singer, it must be a dream come true to be shared by the king of country music!
Commentating on Lisa (and Milo’s singing) Garth said: ‘Oh my gosh. What a beautiful voice, a beautiful human being and a beautiful baby.’
Fans took to the comments to support Lisa with one fan saying ‘Garth seems very impressed Lisa, and so he should be. A beautiful version’.
Another said: ‘Lisa, you’re world-class and all but Milo in the last 20 seconds makes it for me!’
The exciting interaction with Garth was the cherry on top of a great year for Lisa. The mum-of-one married the love of her life, Nathan Khan, in June last year after a two-year engagement thanks to Covid.
The couple’s plans were put on hold during the pandemic but they finally got to have their special day even with one extra guest on the invite list.
The pair tied the knot with their son in tow in a sun-filled ceremony in Co.Donegal. It was the third time lucky for the loved-up pair following two previous postponements.
Speaking to RSVP, Lisa admitted: ‘It was very special to have my son celebrate with us. Obviously, he wasn’t part of the plan when we first got engaged and began planning our wedding day’.
‘The wedding was more than we could have ever dreamed of, it was amazing from start to finish’ she gushed at the time.
