
THREE YOUNG MEN have died after a car entered the water at Menlo Pier in Galway early this morning.
Two of the victims, John Keenan and Wojcieck Panek, were confirmed dead this morning.
The third victim, Christopher Stokes, died in hospital this afternoon.
At around 2.40am, gardaí and emergency services received reports of a car in the water at Menlo Pier in Galway city.
John Keenan was an amateur boxer. Writing on Facebook, his club, the Olympic Boxing Club in Galway, said: “John has been with us at Olympic BC since he was 10 years [old].
“John had always had a big smile on his face and would go out of his way to do anything for anyone, He never let anything get him down.”
Three men were removed from the water and taken to University Hospital Galway.
The scene at Menlo Pier is currently preserved for technical examination and the services of Forensic Collision Investigators have been requested.
